Student Feature: Julia Oliveira

Julia Oliveira is one of our commuter students being featured.

Being originally from Brazil she was able to learn about Liberty University when her high school, which partners with Liberty, sent her to CFAW in 2018. Upon touring she instantly loved the school and knew she wanted to attend.

Upon attending Liberty Julia chose to major in international relations, specifically strategic intelligence. This was due to a love of history and how it relates to government. With her degree, she wants to learn how going into diplomacy could help her benefit her country.

Julia shares what she has enjoyed most about Liberty.

“The community at liberty you are able to meet people from many different countries and learn how to engage better culturally with so many people with different personalities,” Julia said.

She shared that upon attending she was able to learn valuable personal lessons as well. Her biggest is time management and the importance of there being a time for every season of life as the Bible teaches.

She touched on how Liberty helps her faith grow deeper on a foundation she already had from her parents.

“My family is all Christians, so I was born into it. My family was the most encouraging thing to me and have my church back in Brazil as well. Learning about how others had a relationship with Christ encouraged my own relationship” Julia said.

Being a commuter has gone well for Julia as she mentioned one of her favorite parts is the events. The commuter events she enjoyed the most were the tailgates and the Christmas party. Both are fun, high energy, and a load of connection.

Advice to Commuters

Julia shares her advice on handling connections as a commuter.

“It’s really easy to feel alone as a commuter. I recommend coming to the lounge or events to get connected with other commuters” Julia said.
