Executive Vice President for Student Affairs

Dr. Mark Hine, the Executive Vice President for Student Affairs, oversees Student Life, Community Life, Assessment, Student Government Association, Auxiliary Services, Campus Recreation and Logistics, LU One, and the Office of Security and Public Safety (which includes Access Control, Environmental Health and Safety, LU Police Department, and Emergency Communications). Dr. Hine has been dedicated to the Student Affairs division since the 1970’s. His journey with Liberty University began in 1978 when he graduated with a Bachelor in Youth Ministry. Just a year later, in 1979, Dr. Hine started his career at LU as a Resident Director for Student Affairs.

Throughout the years, Dr. Hine has worn many hats within the university. He has served as the Associate Dean of Men, Dean of Graduate and Commuter Students, Acting Dean of Men, Dean of Students, Associate Vice President for Student Development, Vice President for Student Affairs, and now, Executive Vice President for Student Affairs. His passion is watching God transform students’ lives and working with a dedicated team to “Train Champions for Christ.”

In addition to his extensive professional experience, Dr. Hine pursued advanced theological education. He earned his Master of Divinity from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in 1983 and completed his Doctorate in Divinity in 2003.

Though he now calls Forest home, Dr. Hine was born in Texas, and he grew up in upstate New York. He has a zest for life, enjoying motorcycles, fast cars, and traveling. A fun fact about Dr. Hine is he takes many adventurous journeys across America in an 18-wheeler!

Above all, Dr. Hine treasures his family. He and his wife, Toy, are devoted members of Thomas Road Baptist Church. They have been blessed with three beautiful daughters, three wonderful sons-in-law, and eight cherished grandchildren. Despite life’s challenges, Dr. Hine firmly believes that God does all things well.
