The Office of Sponsored Programs and Research: Internal Awards – coordinates and supports new and ongoing research initiatives for both faculty and students at Liberty University.
Submit all applications at least two months before you need funds.
Please allow for at least 10 business days of review once your request hits the OSPR Internal Award Review Queue.
Note: Please only create proposals for true submissions as test records cannot be removed.

Faculty Research Award Information
Professional Development Research/Conference Awards
Supports professional development opportunities for faculty involved in teaching and/or mentoring students in research and scholarly activity. These funds support travel to conferences for the purpose of presenting research, all related to developing an effective and well-informed research program. These funds may also support the purchase of online or print resources if related to research program. Faculty will be awarded up to $2500.
Faculty Research Project Awards
Supports faculty research projects. These funds resource the purchase of equipment (which becomes University assets), supplies, travel (including overseas), consultation fees, student stipends, or other support services needed for the execution of research projects.
Faculty Release – Related to Research Project Awards
This award supports release time or compensation for faculty involved in research. The release must be dean-approved and may be spread over two semesters or used within one semester. Additionally, recipients can apply for additional funding for items including, but not limited to supplies, travel, and other support services. Faculty release and/or compensation may span multiple years based on an annual review. The faculty is eligible for release approval even if previously approved in another application cycle.
Faculty Scholarship Awards
Supports faculty fees and costs associated with the publication of research.
Supports faculty or student research events hosted by LU schools/colleges for internal and/or external participants. These funds support speaker honorariums, travel hosting for on-campus workshops, supplies, food services, advertising, printing, and monetary awards related to the execution of an effective research event (i.e. Research Week).
Student Research Award Information
Student Research Presentation Awards
Supports travel expenses for student researchers who have been accepted to present their research at an external event (e.g., a conference, symposium, or exhibition). Students awarded travel funding must travel to the conference and be a significant contributor to the research project/creative work. Students will be awarded up to $2000. Please submit one application per award applicant.
Student Research Project Awards
Supports student research projects. These funds resource the purchase of equipment (which becomes university assets), supplies, travel (including overseas), consultation fees, student stipends (this does not include participant support costs), or other support services needed for the execution of research projects. Students will be awarded up to $2000. Please submit one application per award applicant.
Non-Research Awards for Faculty and Students
Professional Development Awards
This form should be used to request and track departmental funds to attend professional development events, conferences, or workshops related to your discipline as well as professional memberships. Funded by the respective school/college.
- Application Deadline: Awarded on a rolling basis.

Student Conference Awards
Supports travel expenses for residential students to attend an external academic event (e.g., a conference, symposium, or exhibition). Students awarded funding must complete travel to the external event. Funded by the respective school/college. The approved award will have a threshold of up to $2,000 per student.
