LU Public Service Notification, Weather Update for Tropical Storm Debby

LYNCHBURG & Surrounding Areas: Rain and Wind Forecast
• Rain: Expect total rainfall between 4 and 6 inches in our region, with a 40% chance of flash flooding. The National Weather Service office in Blacksburg, VA, has issued a FLOOD WATCH from Thursday morning through Friday night. This watch is in effect due to the potential for 4 to 7 inches of rain, which could lead to flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and low-lying areas.
• Wind: Wind gusts between 20 and 25 MPH are possible, particularly in areas experiencing heavier rainfall. These winds, combined with saturated ground, may cause some trees to be uprooted, potentially leading to power outages.
Key Concern: Excessive rainfall poses the greatest risk with this storm.
