LU Alert –  Misuse of Apple Air Tag/ similar devices

There are reports of a growing trend in the Lynchburg and the surrounding areas with the misuse of Apple Air Tags or similar tracking devices. These tags are reported being placed on a person’s vehicle or in a personal item. These tags can be used to track a person’s whereabouts and location. If you notice something suspicious like this, CALL LAW ENFORCEMENT. Go to a well-lit, well populated place, call police, and tell them in detail what you saw and experienced. We encourage victims to file the police report. Reports help law enforcement gather information to aid in identifying potential suspects. Always be vigilant and aware of your surroundings.
