5 Things to do at College For A Weekend

Feb 12, 2020 • Rachel F.

My favorite college visit in high school was College For A Weekend (CFAW) because I got to experience life as a Liberty University student through a jam-packed fun and exciting weekend. In your college search, you make a lot of college visits, and you want to see as much of a college campus as possible and get a feel for what it’s like as a student. Most college visits give you just a few hours to tour the campus, but with CFAW, you have an entire weekend. Now, as a current student at Liberty, I get to see CFAW through a different lens, and there are so many things that are important to check out while visiting. Here are 5 things you’ll definitely want to do when attending CFAW to get the complete experience as a Liberty student.

  1. Explore Campus Dining

With over 20 different dining locations — such as Chick-fil-a, Auntie Annie’s, and Dunkin’—Liberty has a wide variety of campus dining locations to explore. You’ll have your meals for the weekend at The Food Court at Reber-Thomas, which is ranked in the top five best on-campus dining halls in the nation according to the Daily Meal. There are so many different options to choose from with an international station and made-to-order omelets. You’ll definitely want to dine on campus during your stay.

  1. Attend Classes

With engaging professors and a learning experience like no other, classes at Liberty will leave you wanting more. You can check out classes specific to the major you’re interested in, or if you’re still undecided, you can take the opportunity to check out the variety of courses offered. Make sure to take a look at the class schedule you receive at CFAW Check-In to see the different class options.

  1. Events

Whether you’re interested in athletics or music, Liberty has events for every student. If you like athletics, you can be a fan in the stands and come cheer on Liberty sports teams as they play their season. As a CFAW, there is also the opportunity to hear from Christian artists like Skillet and Tori Kelly live in concert with discounted tickets for CFAW attendees.

  1. Recreational Activities

There are so many fun activities for college students on campus that you can do while you’re here. A common favorite is the Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre where you can ski, snowboard, and tube. A few other things to do include bowling in the Montview Bowling Alley, a hike to the LU Monogram, and fun outdoor activities at Hydaway Outdoor Recreation Center. This is a great way to connect and get to know other CFAW attendees.

  1. See Liberty Landmarks

In addition to touring the campus, you’ll want to check out some of the landmarks on campus. These landmarks include the Creation Hall Museum, the Rawlings Scriptorium, the Liberty Biblical Museum, and many more. You’ll also want to make sure you head to the top of the Freedom Tower to not only get a panoramic view of Liberty’s campus but also the city of Lynchburg!

College For A Weekend is truly an unforgettable experience you don’t want to miss, and I hope that it has the same impact on your life as it did mine. CFAW is hosted four times a year for second-semester high school sophomores, juniors, seniors, and transfer students under 25, along with their families. CFAW is only $50 with meals and housing covered, and if you’ve already submitted your Enrollment Deposit or been accepted, then CFAW is free for you! We hope to see you there!
