How Not To Be a Broke College Student

Jun 16, 2022 • JP O.

For some college students, learning about finances is like learning another language. Not only do they think it’s difficult, but it’s also time consuming. Nothing good in this life comes easily, but that doesn’t mean that it is impossible. Here are some tips to help you start on your journey to financial literacy.

Get a job! Not only do you get to earn your own money while being employed, but you also learn the value of working hard for things you want. Working is better than being broke — hopefully you have that same mindset.

Create a budget. Sometimes we don’t know how to manage our money in an intelligent way, which means that we might spend compulsively or overspend. Save at least 20% of all your earnings, whether it be from work or given to you as a gift.

Find a side hustle. There are many ways to earn passive income on the side, from stocks to reselling items to starting your own company. Money is all around; all you have to do is know how to find it.

Pray! If you are struggling to find a way to make income, pray. Tell God about your problems, and He’ll open doors, but at the end of the day it’s up to you to take the first step. Faith without works is dead.
