What is CFAW?

Feb 24, 2021 • Graham B.

Ever wanted to test-drive life as a college student before enrolling? We know how important it is for future students to experience the culture of campus before making their big decision to attend. That’s why we host College For A Weekend (CFAW). So, what is this event and why should you care about it? Well, here is a quick explanation.

What is it?

As the name suggests, CFAW is an event where you’ll get to try out our college for a weekend. You get to meet current students, attend classes and connect with professors, meet other CFAW students, participate in fun events and activities, and explore Liberty and the city of Lynchburg!* The weekend is jam-packed with all sorts of things to do, both for students and their parents. This event will help make it clear whether or not Liberty is where you want to spend the next four years of your life.

Some typical CFAW activities and events include:

  • Informational and Q & A Sessions
  • Open houses and classes
  • Bowling at the Montview Student Union
  • Mountain biking, canoeing, and more at Hydaway Outdoor Center
  • Ice skating at the LaHaye Ice Center
  • NCAA games and Club Sports
  • Ski, snowboard, and tube at Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre

Who is it for?

CFAW is designed for transfer students and high school juniors, seniors, and our spring event also welcomes second-semester sophomores. Families of students are welcome to join us as well! CFAW can also be a great option for schools and church youth groups that have a number of students who may be interested in attending Liberty University.

When is it?

There are four Liberty CFAW events each year: two in the fall semester and two in the spring semester. Here is the schedule for the four events in 2021:

Spring: Feb. 25-27 | April 8-10

Fall: Sept. 16-18 | Oct. 28-30

Why should you come?

CFAW is a unique experience that you won’t find at many other colleges. While short college tours are nice, it is hardly enough to determine whether or not you want to spend years of your life on that campus. CFAW allows you to experience what Liberty is like as a student and gives you a good idea of whether or not it is the right college for you.

*Some aspects of CFAW may be altered due to COVID-19
