Wednesday Nights at Liberty University

Feb 21, 2020 • Graham B.

At most colleges, a Wednesday night would just be another ordinary school night. However, at Liberty University, Wednesday nights are full of opportunities to grow in community and develop spiritually.

Wednesday nights typically start with a hall dinner around 5:30 p.m. Dorm residents will get together with the brother/sister dorm residents and eat dinner together. This is a great opportunity for fellowship and to get to know everyone from your hall!

Students will then go from hall dinner to Campus Community, which takes place in the Vines Center at 6:30 p.m. Campus Community is a massive weekly gathering of thousands of students. These students come together to worship the Lord, led by the extremely talented Liberty Worship Collective. They will then sit under the teachings of either our campus pastor, David Nasser, or a special guest, including spiritual leaders from around the world. This is a powerful experience and is one that sees hundreds of students come to Christ each year.

At 10 p.m., students will have a hall meeting. This is another opportunity for students to get to know one another and form relationships. Aside from this, the purpose of hall meeting is to keep the students on the hall informed of everything happening on campus. Resident Assistants and Resident Shepherds will make announcements during the meeting about hall events as well as campus-wide events.

After hall meeting, students will have the opportunity to go to Community Groups. These are small groups of 5-7 hall residents, led in discussion by community group leaders. This is a time to reflect on what was taught during Campus Community and discuss how it applies specifically to the lives of the group members. Additionally, Community Groups create a setting of vulnerability which can create meaningful relationships and accountability.

Wednesday nights at Liberty are an incredible time to build community and also for spiritual growth. With this just being one night of the week, you won’t want to miss out on all of the opportunities that Liberty has for its students!
