5 Favorite Budget-Friendly Weekend Plans!

Mar 19, 2019 • Ellie J.

If you know me, you know I absolutely love game nights.  I love playing Telestrations, Werewolves, Mario Kart, and any other game that will make my friends and I laugh until our stomachs hurt!  Not only are game nights hilarious and so much fun, but they’re also free!  I love finding ways that my friends and I can have fun and keep it budget-friendly.

Here’s a list of my 5 favorite college budget-friendly weekend activities that won’t break the bank!

1. Game Nights!

Like I mentioned above, game nights are my favorites! Invite some friends, and head to and your common area, a friend’s house off campus, or even in the Montview Student Union, bring some games, and have some fun!

2. Fan the Flames!

I love supporting our sports teams and cheering them on! My favorite is football season, but I also enjoy watching our basketball and baseball team as well!  Grab some dinner on campus and head to a game with friends!  You’ll have so much fun, make some great memories, and it’ll be free with your Flames Pass.

3. Coffee Shops + Concerts!

There are lots of coffee shops here in Lynchburg to get homework done, hang with friends, and grab a coffee!  I do that often, but I also really enjoy going to the free concerts that coffee shops host at night.  It’s a great experience hearing different artists perform and supporting their passion!  Grab a tea or hot cocoa with your friends and enjoy the music!

4. Thrift Shopping!

This is a pretty common activity to do as a Liberty student.  Liberty students are known for hitting up Goodwill or other thrift stores and finding cute outfits for a great price!  My friends and I have spent hours in Goodwill and leave with a few cute items for only a few dollars!

5.  Watercolor/Crafting!

My girlfriends and I have been doing this since freshman year.  We’ll put some music on, grab some snacks, and do some crafting!  I like to make cards out of watercolor paper and paint something for a friend.  We’ve also made some pretty paintings to hang in our room or give as a gift.  This is a great way to get creative and relax a bit!

I hope you can enjoy these budget-friendly weekend activities as much as I have during my three years here at Liberty!
