5 Reasons you should attend Liberty University

1. Community

While there might be thousands of residential students at Liberty, it still feels like home! When I was first dropped off at Liberty in fall of 2016 I was overwhelmed! It was different to me since all of the schools I went to before were fairly small. It didn’t take long for me to meet friends that I would still be hanging out with today. This school feels welcoming, I never felt left out here at Liberty.

2. The opportunity to grow closer to God

I am really grateful God put me here at Liberty. I had been attending public schools my entire life and this was my first private Christian school. One of my favorite discoveries was how many opportunities there are to learn and grow spiritually. From Campus Community, small groups, and the many churches in the Lynchburg area there is no excuse that you can make to say Liberty doesn’t have ways for you to connect with other brothers and sisters in Christ. I am so glad over the years to have met people from all over the world at Liberty. It really has opened my eyes to the evolving countries out there. Just listening to friends from Africa, Europe, Russia, South Korea has inspired me to go and serve in these places.

3. The Events

Toby Mac (see below), Chris Tomlin, Relient K, Switchfoot, Needtobreathe, are few of the many concerts that I have been to while attending this University. Not also to mention Liberty Athletics with the developing football and basketball program! Watching these teams get better since arriving here is amazing to witness. Besides games and concerts, there are many student-run activities as well. Movie night, bingo night, lip sync battle are a few to mention. Through all of these events, I have met people at each one. The many events that are going on at Liberty are excuses to get connected with other students across campus.

4. The Professors

I don’t know how to begin, but the Professors at Liberty University are incredible! In class, I always feel welcomed and interested to learn more. The most impactful courses here at Liberty have been my required Religion classes. Theology and Biblical Worldview have given me a new outlook on the Bible and how we as Christians can disciple other brothers and sisters in Christ. Lastly, the professors are approachable and easy to get in contact with. I don’t know how they hire Professors at Liberty, but they really do have a great system!

5. The beautiful places you can explore right outside of Lynchburg!

If you like the outdoors and hiking with friends Liberty is a great place to be. Located near the Blue Ridge Parkway, this school is surrounded by many places. This is my third year at Liberty, and I still have locations I need to travel to! I thought that I might get bored with the hikes in the first year. Well, I was definitely wrong, and I am super happy that happened! I encourage my friends to go hiking because it is enjoying what God created for us! Hiking has always been a great way for me to de-stress from a long week of projects in class.
