Your CFAW Must-Haves

Feb 15, 2018 • Abby B.

The first CFAW of 2018 is almost here! If you’re packing your bags for your first trip to Liberty’s campus, check out my list of CFAW necessities below.

  1. Backpack– trust me, you’ll want a bag to carry your stuff around campus. If you pack lightly, you can even pack your stuff in your backpack instead of a suitcase, which makes it easier to maneuver through the dorms (You don’t need seven outfits and five pairs of shoes, I promise).
  2. Sleeping Bag & Pillow– you’re going to love staying with a current student during CFAW, but you will be bunking on the floor. Sleeping gear is definitely a must-have! If you can’t decide which dorm to choose for CFAW, check out my dorm quiz here: Which Liberty Dorm Should You Choose?
  3. Outerwear– Lynchburg weather can change at a moment’s notice, so definitely check the forecast before you finish packing. I’d always bring a sweatshirt or jacket (or even an umbrella) in case it gets chilly at night or rains!
  4. Walking Shoes– Liberty has an efficient bus system for getting around campus, but you’ll definitely be doing some serious walking while you explore everything LU has to offer!
  5. Extra Cash– with so many fun food options and a great campus bookstore, you’ll want a little bit of extra spending money for a late-night Dunkin’ run or some fresh Liberty apparel.
  6. Notebook– part of the fun of CFAW is attending classes! If you bring paper and a pen, you’ll be able to write down what you learn or questions you may have about Liberty and our degree options. Some of the classes don’t allow cell phone usage for various reasons, so I definitely recommend bringing a small notebook!
  7. Phone Charger– I never leave my dorm without a charger. You never know when you’ll need a little extra battery life to take photos from the top of Freedom Tower or film your favorite Christian artist singing your favorite song live in Convocation or a weekend concert!

Above all, I’d recommend bringing an open mind with you to CFAW. You’ll have many opportunities to meet fellow CFAWers, current students, and professors too (Fun Fact- two of my best friends first met each other at CFAW, and they got married last August. It’s rare, but you never know who you’ll meet)! Also, don’t forget that the students you’re bunking with are in the middle of classes. They are excited to meet you and host you during the weekend, but they’re also balancing exams, papers, and work schedules too. Be considerate of them whenever you enter or exit the dorm!
