Intensives

Coffee cup in hand, I opened the door to my DIGI 175 classroom and slipped inside a week before Spring semester classes officially started. In order to make more room in my Spring schedule, I chose to take one of my courses for my minor as an intensive. Completing a 16-week course in five days sounded a little intense to me, but I accepted the challenge and dove right into the world of Adobe Premiere Pro (fun fact- Liberty offers free access to the Adobe Creative Cloud for students in degree programs who need the software for their courses)

Intensives here at Liberty are such a blessing- to knock out 3-course credits in one week isn’t easy, but WOW is it worth the effort! I met some super cool people, learned how to use new software in a short amount of time, and can now apply what I’ve learned to my job here as a blogger and vlogger for my university. The best part of the course wasn’t even what I learned; my favorite part was the relationships I formed during those five days of class. My friends and family eagerly asked how my class was going each day, and the professor made himself available to answer our questions and give feedback on our work at pretty much every waking moment. For me, taking an intensive was the perfect way to begin my spring semester because now I have more free time during the week to complete homework, meet with friends, or even hike a mountain or two (hint, hint- check out the photos below)!

After completing my jam-packed week of projects and assignments, I zipped my bag shut and left Green Hall for one last weekend of Winter Break. Since the weather had warmed up for the weekend, my friends and I decided to hike Sharp Top, one of Lynchburg’s most iconic hikes (definitely put this hike on your Top Ten list of things to do while at LU- it’s seriously such a classic and not too arduous either). We saw so many adorable dogs on our way up and down the mountain, and the views of the surrounding countryside were absolutely amazing. Best of all- Sharp Top is only 40 minutes from campus! If you’re looking for an alternative to the gym or just want to take a break from schoolwork, check out Sharp Top for sure! 10/10 would recommend! 🙂
