Serve Lynchburg FAQ

Volunteer FAQ

How can I register with my friends?

Serve Lynchburg is an excellent opportunity to serve the community with your friends. When registering, simply choose the same worksite as those you want to serve with, and you will be on a team together. But if you are signing up on your own, don’t worry! Serve Lynchburg is an excellent opportunity to meet other volunteers who want to serve their community and tackle a project together.

Are non-Liberty students allowed to attend?

No. Serve Lynchburg participation is limited to Liberty University students, faculty, and staff.

When and where do I need to arrive on April 26th?

Serve Lynchburg is launching from the Vines Center. Check-in begins at 8:45 am and goes until 9:20 am. You will enter through Gate 1. If you do not register beforehand, all walk-in service opportunities will also be at Gate 1.

Is lunch provided?

Yes! You will select your lunch during registration. When you arrive on Saturday, your meal will be available for pick up to take to your site with you or by your request to your Site leader. Be sure to eat breakfast beforehand, as only lunch will be provided.

Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available when selecting lunch. Volunteers are welcome to pack their lunch as well. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact LU Serve.

What do I wear?

Please wear your Serve Lynchburg 2025 T-shirt!
You will need to pick up your t-shirt from Montview Student Union at one of the following times:

  • Tuesday, April 22nd, from 10 am-2 pm
  • Wednesday, April 23rd, from 10 am-2 pm

Closed-toe shoes are required for all volunteers. We recommend wearing pants to your worksite, as this will aid in protecting your legs in case of contact with harmful plants.

For the rest of your clothing choices, look at the weather and remember the project description for your worksite. Many projects are outdoors and can get dirty, so consider wearing clothes that may get dirty or ruined. Consider bringing a hat and sunscreen for outdoor projects in warm weather or a jacket/coat/rain jacket in cool or wet weather.

What should I bring?

Volunteers should consider bringing a refillable water bottle, sunscreen/hat if working at an outdoor site on a hot day, and a snack if needed.

Is Liberty University transportation provided?

Yes! You will select one of the available transportation options during registration.

Am I able to drive myself to a selected site?

Yes! You can select that you will be driving yourself on your registration. You will receive lunch from your Site Leader if you choose one of the lunch options for your registration. Please look over the site and notice how far away you will have to drive from Liberty. Some sites are up to 50 minutes from the university, but many are 10 minutes or less away.

Will there be ADA accommodations?

All sites and projects have ADA accommodations unless noted otherwise in worksite listings. Transportation by LU Vehicles with ADA accommodations is noted in worksite listings. Please notify us of any accommodations you need when registering. Any adjustments or site registration edits on the day of the event will not be accommodated due to transportation logistics.

What if I want to change sites or need to cancel my registration?

No problem! Return to your email, retrieve your reference number, and click the link to modify or cancel your registration!

What happens if it rains?

Please bring a rain jacket in the case of light rain. We will not cancel unless severe weather conditions are present on the day, which we will confirm via email.
