CSER Course Pathing: School of Music

Welcome to the CSER course path for the School of Music. Below you can find organizations recommended by Music faculty uniquely suited for music students. For more information about these organizations or for help registering for CSER, please email cser@liberty.edu.

Freshmen and Sophomore

Freshman and Sophomore music majors are encouraged to engage local organizations through service. They are expected to familiarize themselves with LU and Lynchburg culture as well as meet the needs of the surrounding community.

Students should find areas that fit their skills and/or passions. They can work with young people, poverty alleviation, campus ministries, and SGA clubs. They can serve with Scaremare, international missions, or use their musical talents in a local church.

Junior and Senior

School of Music majors are encouraged to seek out opportunities within local churches where they can exercise their musical talents such as choir, worship leaders, and band members. For example, Thomas Road Orchestra and Choir is a vital part of the worship ministry of TRBC.

Students can also earn CSER through the School of Music by serving in the Marching Band under Dr. Steven Kerr. In addition, music majors should seek leadership positions in music-related SGA clubs or explore unique and customized opportunities for service through special projects (CSER 399-001).

Music majors are uniquely positioned to fulfill a need in local schools by tutoring young people in voice and instruments. Many local schools are listed as Special Projects (CSER 399), which means they can be customized according to the organization’s and student’s needs.
