WMIN 500 Introduction to Ministry for Women

This course presents an introduction for women’s ministry and for women in ministry. It will introduce students to the topics of ministry calling, preparation for ministry, the place of women in ministry, working with men in ministry settings, and the balance between ministry and family responsibilities.

Women today are given the opportunity to minister in leadership positions in the local church, parachurch, and mission organizations. This course seeks to help the student develop his/her own beliefs about the role of women in ministry, and to learn how men and women can work together in ministry. The student will also be able to appraise his/her own personal and spiritual qualifications for ministering effectively to the ministry to which he/she is called.

Discussion Board Forums (6)

The student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each forum. Each thread must be 350 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 3 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 250 words.

Personal Evaluation Project

This project is designed to help the student learn and understand his/her strengths and weaknesses as he/she prepares for a ministry leadership position. The student will complete various assessments and evaluations and then compile and write an 1100–1200-word Personal Evaluation Paper.

Book Review

The student will write a 700–800-word (about 4 pages) Book Review of an assigned book. The student must reflect on the ministry of the main character and the impact of her ministry.

Comparison Paper

The student will write a 7–10-page research-oriented paper in current Turabian format that focuses on the complementarian and egalitarian viewpoints of women working in ministry. The student must use a minimum of 7 scholarly sources.
