PSYC 820 Seminar on the Integration of Theology and Psychology
Course Description
This seminar course explores the relationship between Christian Theology and psychological science. The theological and philosophical foundations of various conceptual models of integration will be evaluated and applied to research in Psychology. Theological and psychological methods also will be explored.

Rationale
The purpose of this course is to demonstrate how psychological science and a biblical worldview can be integrated effectively in the pursuit of truth. This course will lead students to explore both the scientific research and biblical truths in their research area of interest to develop an integrated view of their research interest area.

Discussions (4)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, in each discussion, the student is expected to provide one main thread that answers the question and two replies to classmates’ posts. Main threads must be at least 500 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. Each reply must be 250 words.
Research Paper Topic Submission Assignment
In this assignment, the student will present the topic that the student will explore in the final research paper. This final research paper topic assignment is expected to include a 1-2 page description of the topic the student has chosen for the final paper and a list of 25 references related to the topic. Integration Worksheet Assignments (3)
Throughout the course, the student will complete three integration worksheets on the topic the student has chosen for the final research paper. These integration worksheets are designed to prompt the student to think about different elements (both scientific and Scriptural) related to the topic. Each of these assignments have questions that the student will answer related to the topic and will help the student write the final research paper. Final Research Paper Assignment
The capstone project of this course is a 20 – 25 page integrative review of the student’s research topic. This paper will present an integrative scientific and biblical review of knowledge on the topic. The current state of the scientific literature on the student’s topic, as well as an integrated review of biblical truths should be presented. Narrated PowerPoint Assignment
For this presentation, the student will prepare a narrated PowerPoint presentation on their final research paper. In the PowerPoint presentation, the student will describe the area of research they have reviewed with attention to the integration of both the scientific research and biblical research on their topic. The presentation will include sources cited and referenced in current APA style. The student will also narrate the presentation. The presentation is expected to be 15-20 minutes long.
