After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the Course Requirements Checklist found in the Course Overview.
Discussions (4)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will complete Discussions, where he or she will respond to the listed prompts and post a thread of at least 300 words with 1 source. In addition to the thread, the student will reply to 1 other classmate’s thread (150 words minimum), and appropriately support the reply with reference to a scholarly source. (CLO: A, B, C)
Sexual Journey Assignment
This paper requires the student to reflect on your sexual journey, exploring key experiences, influences, and personal values while considering areas of growth and unresolved struggles. The student will then connect his/her story to his/her role as a pastoral counselor, examining how his/her experiences shape the student’s approach to discussing sexuality in ministry. Both sections are equally weighted, and the paper must follow APA formatting, using first-person narration with no citations or abstract, at a minimum of 1,200 words. (CLO: B)
Personal Sexual Ethic Presentation Assignment
This presentation outlines the student’s Christian sexual ethic using Scripture, theology, and psychology to shape moral choices. It covers core principles like God’s design for sexuality, purity, covenant marriage, and Christ’s reflection in relationships, while integrating three additional topics relevant to faith and pastoral counseling. The slides should be visually engaging, follow APA formatting, and demonstrate thoughtful integration of biblical and ethical reasoning. (CLO: A)
Intervention Vignette Assignment
This assignment presents three pastoral counseling vignettes, each addressing common sexual struggles, and challenges the student to provide thoughtful responses based on theological, psychological, sexual, and relational perspectives. For each case, the student will identify core issues, apply relevant biblical and theological principles, and develop pastoral counseling insights, offering practical interventions, recommended readings, and referrals for additional support. The student’s analysis should demonstrate an integrated approach that reflects both compassionate care and biblical truth. (CLO: B, C)
This assignment involves creating a seven-entry devotional series designed for pastoral use, offering biblically grounded and theologically accurate perspectives on healthy Christian sexuality. Each entry will include a title, a relevant Scripture passage, a pastoral reflection, practical application, and a closing prayer, aiming to encourage spiritual growth and emotional health. The series should be written in an accessible, encouraging tone, integrating theological insights with real-life challenges and providing guidance on topics such as purity, intimacy, healing, and discipleship. (CLO: C)
