Course Description
Introduces the fundamental concepts and legal principles that are applicable to the American legal system, its development and inherent ethical considerations. Discusses the basis and structure of business contracts; the creation and characteristics of agencies, partnerships, limited liability companies and corporations; and the rights and liabilities of agents, partners, directors and shareholders.

Rationale
Businesses affect many aspects of our lives. A robust understanding of American business law is therefore critical to those desiring to make an impact and add value. Consequently, this course covers a broad array of business law concepts, such as agency, contracts, sales, and business associations.

Discussions (4)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each Discussion. Each thread must be at least 300 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. At least 3 scholarly sources must be cited in the thread. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to at least 2 classmates’ threads. Each reply must be at least 200 words. At least 2 scholarly sources must be cited in each reply. All sources used to support the assertions must be cited in current Bluebook format.
Essay Assignments (3)
The student will write three (3) Essays in current Bluebook format. Each Essay must be 800-1,200 words. The Essays will require synthesis of the course content, requiring the student to identify the legal issues, apply law to facts, and answer the questions presented with thoughtful analysis.

Quizzes (6)
Each Quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned module: week. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 25 multiple-choice and true/false questions, and have a time limit of 2 hours. Only 1 attempt per quiz will be allowed.
Final Exam: Business Regulation
The Final Exam will cover the Learn material for the module 8: week 8. The Final Exam will be open-book/open-notes, contain 30 multiple-choice, true/false, and short answer questions, and have a time limit of 4 hours. Only 1 attempt will be allowed.
