HSCI 990 Dissertation IV

This course is the last step in the Ph.D. program. Doctoral candidates will defend their dissertation and finalize their dissertation manuscript for publication.

HSCI 990 is the final step for the PhD doctoral candidate in Health Sciences. It provides the student an opportunity to defend the dissertation and publish the completed manuscript.

Course Requirements Checklist

After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.

Quiz: Defense Schedule

Contains 1 True/False question asking about whether you have scheduled your dissertation defense with your chair, and 1 essay question asking about when this has been scheduled (i.e., what date and time). 

Dissertation: Final Manuscript Assignment

Any feedback received during the dissertation defense must be applied to the manuscript. Candidates are encouraged to submit their manuscripts for professional editing before submitting it to Scholars Crossing. (CLO: A)

Quiz: Library Submission Verification

After presenting his or her Dissertation Defense, the student will submit his or her dissertation to Scholars Crossing. This is a requirement for the student to receive a final grade in the course. A copy of the submission confirmation must be submitted. (CLO:A)

Quiz: Library Approval

The student will receive confirmation from the Jerry Falwell Library once they have approved/accepted
their dissertation submission. A copy of the confirmation is required in the quiz.

Quiz: Graduation

The student must complete the requirements and paperwork necessary for graduation. Graduation information can be found on the Registrar’s Website. (https://www.liberty.edu/commencement/)

Peer-Reviewed Journal Assessment Assignment

The student will review two peer-reviewed journals. A list of journal requirements for publication is provided with a short paragraph describing the students next step to prepare research for publication.

Program Reflection Assignment

The student will submit a program reflection addressing the assignment requirements.
