Rationale

The course seeks to understand the geographic and geopolitical nature of the international system through the lens of key theories, cases, and technologies. These all serve to explain how power, competition, and conflict are and have been distributed throughout history up the the present.

After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview. 

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each Discussion. Each thread must be 450-500 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 200-250 words. The threads and replies must be in current APA format.

The student will write 4 essays in this course. Each essay will be a 5-7 page research-based paper in current APA format that focuses on the application of the specific essay’s topic according to the instructions. At least 7 sources must be used and may include the course texts, presentation videos, the Bible, and scholarly articles.  

There will be 4 quizzes in this course. Each quiz will cover the Learn/Textbook material for the assigned module: week. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain approx. 10 multiple-choice, 5 true/false, 5 matching, and 5 fill-in-the-blank questions, and have a 35 minute time limit.
