Textbook readings and lecture presentations

No details available.

After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread of at least 300–350 words (not including references) in response to the provided prompt for each discussion. Discussion topics are reflective in nature and allow the student to conduct a metacognitive analysis of his/her learning during a recently completed module. Faith Integration discussions allow the student to reflect on how his/her pursuit of a technical degree can interface with his/her worldview. Discussions are open to receiving feedback from classmates and the instructor—iron sharpening iron! The student is required to create a thread and then reply to the threads of at least two (2) classmates. The replies must be at least 250–300 words each (not including references).

Quizzes (6)

The student will complete six (6) quizzes. Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned module. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 10 short answer questions, and have a 30-minute time limit. Quizzes may be attempted up to five (5) times, with the highest score counting toward the course grade. Quiz questions are pulled at random from a question bank, so different questions will likely appear on each attempt.

Individual Reflection Assignments (4)

On four (4) occasions during the Industrial Engineering Technology Capstone I course (approximately every 2 weeks), the student will be asked to engage in a period of personal reflection centered around the three elements of Surprise, Frustration, and Failure, reflect on what the student and his or her team have done since the previous reflection, and discuss how he or she dealt with each situation compared to how a mature Christian would have responded. The student will summarize his or her thoughts by reflecting on the lessons he or she has learned and how the lessons learned will guide the student in the future.

Team Organization Assignment

During the project initiation phase, the student teams will complete an assignment related to team organization.

Project Planning Team Assignment

During the  planning phase, the student teams will complete an assignment related to project planning. This assignment is a continuation of the Team Organization Assignment.

Phase Report Team Assignment (2)

At the conclusion of each phase of the Industrial Engineering Technology Capstone process (approximately every two weeks), a report will be required documenting the activities performed and the results achieved. This report will be used to keep the external client and the course instructor informed as to the progress being made to achieve a solution to the client’s need and allow for feedback, encouragement, correction, and counsel as appropriate.
