Tasks (5)

In EDUC 987, tasks are critical checkpoints that ensure doctoral candidates’ dissertation sections are thoroughly reviewed, meet academic standards, and are approved before progressing to the next stage. The course includes three key milestones:

Task 1: Research Study Outline Assignment

1a:  Chair Approval Assignment

1b:  Committee Review Assignment

1c:   Methodologist Approval Assignment

Task 2:  Draft Chapters 1-3 Approval (Chair) Assignment

Task 3:  Official Site Letter Approval (Chair) Assignment

Task 4: Research Proposal (Chapters 1-3) Assignment

4a:  Approval (Chair) Assignment

4b: Approval (Committee) Assignment

4c:  Approval (Methodologist) Assignment

Task 5:  Proposal Defense Approval Presentation Assignment

Each task requires submission through Canvas, where the chair and, for some tasks, the committee and SoE methodologist provide detailed feedback to help refine the work and ensure it is methodologically sound and aligned with the candidate’s program of study and research objectives. These tasks are essential for maintaining academic rigor, providing structured feedback, and tracking the candidate’s progress. Doctoral candidates are expected to submit tasks in a timely manner, incorporate all feedback, and promptly resubmit revised work for approval. Successful completion of these tasks is crucial for the candidate’s progression in the course and their overall dissertation journey, marking significant steps toward achieving their doctoral degree.

Candidates who have completed Tasks 1-5 and all quizzes may opt to complete Optional Task 6: Optional IRB Application Submission Assignment.

Check-in Quizzes (8)

The Check-in Quizzes are designed to help the candidate self-report progress in developing the dissertation manuscript. These quizzes serve as a checkpoint for the candidate to reflect on the work accomplished, ensure the candidate is meeting course activity and attendance requirements, and keep the candidate on track.
