Student affairs divisions play a key role in higher education from student experience and success to institutional compliance. Supporting college students involves an array of topics including campus environment and culture, student advising, assessment, academic support services, and promoting career-readiness. This course will prepare and equip future student affairs professionals with background, research, and professional practice needed to be successful in the field.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the candidate is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each Discussion. Each thread must be 300 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the candidate is required to reply to two other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 150 words. Based upon the assigned articles, the candidate will take what they have learned to evaluate the student affairs profession. The candidate must show his/her understanding of student affairs administration and apply it to relevant topics in the field. Each critique must adhere to the current APA format and have a 400–500-word limit. The required title page, references page, and citations are not included in the word limit. (CLO: C, F)

The candidate will research at least six student affairs professional organizations for higher education and provide a summary of their member benefits that will be placed in a document for future reference and professional development. The candidate will summarize his/her findings with an application summary in a narrative of at least 300 words in current APA format. (CLO: B, C, D, E)

The candidate will research student affairs websites from across six various types of institutions of higher learning to find common resources and themes that will be placed in a professional resources document. The candidate will summarize his/her findings with an application summary in a narrative of at least 300 words in current APA formatting. (CLO: B, C, D, E)

Using job search tools, the candidate will research at least seven current job openings for student affairs professionals and review both the required and preferred requirements needed for applicants. The student will summarize his/her findings with professional goals in a summary of at least 300 words in current APA formatting. (CLO: B, C, E, F)

The candidate will author an eight-page research-based paper in current APA format that focuses on a specific topic or discipline relevant to student affairs. The paper must include at least six reference(s) in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E, F)

Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned Modules: Weeks. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 10 multiple-choice, true/false, and fill-in-the-blank questions, have a 45-minute time limit, and allow 1 attempt. (CLO: A, B, C, E, F)
