This course provides students with useful resources for designing generation-specific educational activities across the lifespan. It is intentionally created to help students in local church ministries develop and deploy educational ministries that reflect learning needs throughout the lifespan. Biblical norms are also used to help students plan strategies for educational ministry. Particular attention is given to issues of spiritual maturity and as persons navigate various life stages.

This course focuses on helping ministry practitioners improve their teaching of persons across the lifespan with special attention given to Biblical framework or paradigm that guides our understanding of the principles of religious education.

Biblical Credo Assignment

The student will develop a project for launching a workshop in a ministry context. The workshop will address the following topic: “Generational Teaching.” In developing this, the student will identify various components designed to facilitate appropriate lifespan teaching. The first phase for this project will be a credo titled “What I Believe.” This will be the biblical framework for the workshop. (CLO: A)

Lifespan Profile Assignment

In this assignment, the student will target and address issues related to a particular generational demographic. The student will select one of the demographics referenced in the Lazzara text and develop an overview of the developing person. The Profile will target the dimensions of the developing person with respect to lifespan transitions. (CLO: A)

Workshop Proposal Assignment

Based on the reading material, personal or professional experiences, and assignments completed to date, student will lay out a proposed strategy for hosting the “Generational Teaching Workshop.” The focus of the workshop must address teaching strategies for a generational demographic. (CLO: C)

Based on feedback to the Workshop Proposal, the reading material, personal or professional experiences, and assignments completed to date, student will lay out a strategic plan for hosting the “Generational Teaching Workshop.” The focus of the workshop must address teaching strategies for a generational demographic.
