Rationale
The purpose of this course is to introduce the student to the UNIX Operating System and to UNIX software development. Many servers and other applications are currently hosted on UNIX machines, so many students will find themselves working on or using UNIX machines once they enter the workforce. This class is not a course on UNIX System Administration; however, System Administration and security will be introduced. The focal point of the class will be UNIX software development. However, to get there, the student will be led through a number of prerequisite skills.
