The school counselor is responsible for collaborating and consulting with key stakeholders as he or she defines, manages, delivers, and assesses a comprehensive school counseling program. The school counselor must use his or her leadership and advocacy skills to develop a program that meets the unique academic, social-emotional, and college/career needs of all students. It is critical for him or her to understand the referral process when a student needs go beyond his or her professional scope and how this creates a partnership between the school, family, and community. The school counselor who is Christian and believes in Biblical truths must also be able to align his or her work with God’s calling on his or her life while balancing professional ethical standards.
