CEFS 506 Integration of Spirituality and Counseling

Students critically examine how a Christian worldview and a client’s spirituality impact the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning process in counseling. Ethical, diagnostic, and assessment issues relevant to the use of Christian spiritual interventions with appropriately religious individuals, couples, and families are considered, along with current research related to spirituality and counseling.

Integration of psychology, theology, and spirituality provides the student with an overview of integration models as a theoretical and practical foundation for faith-based counseling. In order to practice Christian counseling, professional counselors must be able to articulate a Christian worldview and understand the way in which their worldview informs counseling theory and practice.

Paper: Chapter Review Assignments (3)

The student will write a review of the appropriate chapters in the King and Ford (2024) and Neff & McMinn (2020) textbooks. Each paper must be between 5 to 6 double-spaced pages. Each paper must also be completed in APA (7th ed.) format and will be submitted via Turnitin (a plagiarism detection tool) for grading. Please refer to the instructions in Canvas for this assignment. Quiz: Live Class Discussion

The Initial Class Discussion is a collaborative learning experience. The student has the option of participating in a Live Class Session or watching the recorded video later. See Module 1 and the announcements from the professor for the proper date, time, and website for the Live Class Session. This quiz will contain 1 multiple-choice question and have a 1-hour time limit.

This quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned Modules: Weeks. This quiz will be open-notes, have 10 multiple-choice and essay questions and have a time limit of 1 hour.
