BUSI 353 Retirement Savings and Income Planning

This course is designed to cover, retirement needs analysis, Social Security and Medicare, Medicaid, types of retirement plans, qualified plan rules and options, other tax-advantaged retirement plans, regulatory considerations, key factors affecting plan selection for businesses, distribution rules and taxation, retirement income and distribution strategies and business succession planning.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will participate in 2 module discussions. Both parts of the discussion (thread and replies) must be submitted by the published deadlines in order for the student to earn credit for either part of the discussion.

Narrated PowerPoint Assignment

Having been introduced to several retirement plans and their specific rules, the student will confirm their understanding of some of the more technical components of these retirement options. The assignment is designed to provide the student with the opportunity to solidify the details of the more challenging concepts via a student selected retirement plan presentation.

Case Study Faith Integration Assignment

The student will write a paper integrating their faith delving into the course’s learning outcomes and applying the course’s theories and concepts.

Based on the Course Learning Outcomes above, this course will have 2 major quizzes (Quiz: Mid-Term and Quiz: Final) and otherwise weekly mini-quizzes to ensure the student is meeting the Program Learning Outcomes.

Each weekly quiz will be open-book/open-notes, consist of 10 true/false questions, and have a 30-minute time limit.

The Quiz: Midterm and Quiz: Final will each be open-book/open-notes, consist of 30 true/false questions, and have a 1-hour and 30-minute time limit.
