AVIA 605 Aviation Law
Course Description
This course includes Federal, State, and local laws applied to aviation. Jurisdictional boundaries and the Biblical basis for the fundamental principles of Administrative Law, Common Law, and Legislative law will be covered.

Rationale
The purpose of this course is to provide the student with an overview of the relevant legal principles and terms and to prepare the student to work in the field of aviation applying his/her expertise with a biblical perspective. Specifically, this course will research new and developing areas of aviation law while applying biblical principles while also providing the student with a variety of practical skills exercises that the student can to use in the aviation management setting.

Class Introductions
The student will complete a 2-3 minute video introduction. Each student must also reply to 2 classmates in a minimum of 150 words. Kaltura is recommended to record the presentation.
Discussions (6)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each discussion. Each thread must be 450–500 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. At least 2 scholarly sources are required for the initial thread. Acceptable sources are course readings, case law, Bible verses, and peer-reviewed journal articles. At least 1 biblical principle should be integrated in the initial thread. All sources must be cited in current APA format. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 250 words. (CLO: A, B, C, D, F, H)
Case Brief Assignments (3)
The student will read and brief three full case opinions in order to better his/her understanding, analysis, and application of the law. The provided template must be used to brief the assigned cases. The assignment should not exceed 500 words and should not be less than 300. (CLO: C, D, F, G, H)
Business Blog Assignment
In this assignment, the student will prepare a blog to be used on a fictitious company website providing an overview and analysis of a developing topic within the aviation industry. The blog should be between 900-1000 words with references listed at the end in APA format. The blog should also include one image or graphic. (CLO: C, D, H)
Business Memorandum Assignment
The student will be required to succinctly research and provide answers on specific types of aviation insurance that a fictitious client has requested information about. The student should prepare an 800-1000-word memorandum addressing the top four types of insurance coverages that he/she recommends for the aerial application business. Everything reported should be supported by APA citations and a reference page at the end. (CLO: C, D, G, H)
Narrated PowerPoint Assignment
The student will prepare a 15-20 minute narrated PowerPoint presentation discussing the aviation legal topic that the student has researched for his/her course research paper. The presentation should be 15 slides and integrate a biblical worldview connected to the topic. (CLO: A, B, C, D, F)
Narrated PowerPoint Critiques Assignment
The students will also be assigned to watch and critique TWO of their classmates’ presentations in the following week as the final portion of the Project.
Research Paper Assignment
The student will select a developing legal issue within aviation and prepare a 3000-3500 word (not including title and reference pages) research paper fully briefing the issue and providing various viewpoints and biblical worldview perspectives on the issue. This is the capstone project of the course and the student will also prepare a presentation on the same topic. At least 8 resources must be referenced and the paper must be in current APA format. Quiz: Foundations of the Law
The student will complete one quiz in this course on the introductory material for the purpose of testing the foundational government and legal principles on which the balance of the course is built on. The quiz will contain 10 true/false, short answer, essay, and fill-in-the-blank questions. The quiz will be limited to 30 minutes and will allow 1 attempt. The quiz is open-book/open-notes.
