Course Description
This course is a study of weather hazards, meteorological flight planning, aviation weather equipment and human factors as related to flight safety in all weather conditions.

Rationale
This course will help the student develop a better understanding of the atmosphere; the aviator’s operating environment. Once the operating environment is understood, the student will then have the knowledge required to maximize aircraft performance, while minimizing exposure to weather hazards.

Discussion: Class Video Introduction
The student will complete one relevant video discussion about him/herself. The video presentation must be well organized and at least 2 minutes in length. The student must respond to 2 classmates with relevant and engaging responses or questions. Each reply should be a minimum of 150-words with no spelling or grammar errors.
Discussions (2)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will complete 2 Discussions in this course. Each student will post an initial thread of 400-500 words on the assigned Module: Week for each Discussion. In addition, the student must then post 2 replies of 250 words on the last day of the same Module: Week. These are intended to be scholarly dialogues and for each thread, the student must support his/her assertions with proper scholarly support in APA format with sources listed as References at the end of the post. Video Discussion
The student is required to produce a pre-travel weather presentation. This video presentation will allow the student to learn and practice researching and presenting pertinent weather information. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E, F)
Interactive Study Activity Assignments (7)
Within each Module: Week, the student will find Interactive Study Activities. These activities are to provide the student with an additional resource to help learn the material covered within this course. The interactive activities will be graded for completion. Each student is HIGHLY encouraged to view the material thoroughly to best prepare for weekly quizzes and course exams. (CLO: A, B, C, G)
Case Study Assignment
The student will submit an 8-10-page Case Study on a catastrophic weather event. Current APA format must be used with a minimum of 5 sources cited. (CLO: A, B, D, E, F)
Become a Weather Forecaster Presentation Assignment
The student is required to observe the current weather conditions and compare it to the reported conditions as a video presentation. (CLO: B, C, D, E)
Quizzes (2)
The student is required to complete quizzes in this course. The quiz format will be open-book/open-notes and consist of various type questions. The student will have an assigned time limit to complete each quiz. (CLO: A, B, D, E)
