Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will engage in course discussion regarding relevant course material. For each Discussion, the student will post a thread of at least 350 words with at least 2 peer-reviewed references in current APA format. The student must then post 2 replies of at least 150 words each. Each reply must incorporate at least 1 peer-reviewed reference in current APA format and 1 scripture, cited and referenced, in current APA format. The student will complete 2 lessons through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services website. Then, the student will upload the certificates of completion for both lessons. Furthermore, the student will reflect on his or her understanding of human research protections by analyzing key regulatory frameworks, such as the Common Rule, and the ethical considerations in human subjects research. Through examining his or her evolving comprehension of concepts like “research” and “human subjects,” the student will identify overarching themes that inform ethical research practices. The student will integrate these lessons with his or her future research goals and professional practice while also exploring how these principles align with biblical values, thereby deepening his or her commitment to ethical research conduct. The student will critically evaluate a quantitative research instrument by analyzing its design, structure, reliability, and validity. The student will identify measurement constructs, assess item development, response formats, administration procedures, and scoring methods to determine the instrument’s accuracy and effectiveness. Additionally, the student will consider practical factors such as sample characteristics and research objectives when selecting instruments, and provide recommendations for future research based on his or her analysis. This process will enhance the student’s ability to select and utilize quantitative instruments effectively in research and professional practice. The student will identify a social work issue within his or her area of interest, utilizing the PICO-T skills learned to refine his or her topic. The student will locate relevant evidence-based research using these skills and compile an annotated bibliography comprising five entries: one mixed-methods study, two qualitative research articles, and two quantitative research articles. Each annotated entry should not only summarize the findings of the respective article but also articulate how these findings can inform social work practice in the chosen area of interest, providing practical insights for future interventions and approaches. The student will develop a deeper understanding of his or her research journey by reflecting on his or her experiences in the current course or program, identifying challenges and breakthroughs, and assessing their growth in research skills through writing an essay. The student will also explore the application of these skills to future academic and professional pursuits, set specific goals for further development, and outline strategies for continuous improvement, ultimately enhancing his or her confidence and competence in evidence-based practice. The essay should be at least 1,000 words, excluding the title page and reference section. The student should format the essay according to current APA formatting guidelines.
