PSYC 780 Strategic Planning and Management

This course reviews the purpose and nature of strategic planning in public, private, and not-for-profit organizations and how to define, plan, and execute goals for an organization. The evaluation and sustainment of strategic plans within an organization will also be explored.

This course presents the student with theory, research, and practical implementation of the concepts related to strategic planning and management. As a future employee and/or employer, this gives the student the knowledge and the practice of developing strategic plans and understanding of the ongoing strategic planning process. This course is essential for understanding and working in and for organizations, as strategic planning and management concepts are foundational to the effectiveness and functionality of the organization.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompts for each Discussion. Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. For this collaborative discussion, the student is required to provide a video response to the provided prompts in the initial thread. The video must be between 5-7 minutes long and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. The student will write a 5-page research-based paper in current APA format that focuses on stakeholder dynamics as related to the strategic plan. The paper must include at least 4 references in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible. (CLO: A, B, C, D)

The student will write a 8-10 page research-based paper in current APA format that focuses on identifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges or threats encountered by an organization. The paper must include at least 4 references in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible. (CLO: A, B, C, D) 

The student will write a 6-page research-based paper in current APA format that focuses on the value and impact that various strategies can have on a strategic plan and consider each of these from a Christian worldview perspective The paper must include at least 3 references in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible. The student will write a 7-page research-based paper in current APA format that focuses on creating four elements of the formal strategic plan and consider each of these from a Christian worldview perspective The paper must include at least 4 references in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E)

The student will write a 4-page research-based paper in current APA format that focuses the value and impact that internet tools and social media can have on a strategic plan and consider these from a Christian worldview perspective. The paper must include at least 2 references in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E)

The student will write a 20-25-page research-based paper in current APA format that focuses on compiling a comprehensive strategic plan document and considering its importance from a Christian worldview perspective.
