CJUS 644 Correctional Policy & Procedure

This course focuses on the importance of correctional policies and procedures and their need to be grounded in defensible rationale. This course will examine the role of policy development within a correctional setting and the need to ensure a legitimate correctional outcome. This course will also examine the procedures regarding how policies should be instituted within a correctional setting.

This course provides a comprehensive examination of the intersection of research, policy and procedure and the subsequent impact on the day-to-day operations of the American corrections system. The course closely examines the role of policy development and its impact on the corrections system. This course also examines the philosophical underpinnings of the American corrections system. This examination includes the influence and impact of the Christian Worldview.

The student will write an 8-10 -page research-based paper in current APA format that focuses on best practices in corrections. The paper must include at least 7 reference(s) that includes the course textbooks, articles, and the Bible. (CLO: B, C, D, E)
