This course introduces students to a research informed biblical paradigm for healthy sexuality. It will increase their awareness, knowledge, and skills regarding the broad range of issues in the field of counseling when addressing healthy sexuality.

Rationale
To address the confusion, misunderstandings, and naiveté, this course critically examines human sexuality and its central importance to personhood from theological and pastoral counseling perspectives within the context of a biblically informed worldview.

Therefore, the student will complete Discussion, where he or she will respond to the listed prompts and post a thread of at least 300 words with 4 sources. This assignment will be completed in 3 parts:
Theology of Sex and Sexuality Scholarly Research: Topic & Thesis Submission Assignment
The student will submit his or her thesis statement for the Theology of Sex and Sexuality Scholarly Research Assignment. The first step is to write a specific thesis statement. This is not a research paper on a topic, but a scholarly theological paper on sex and sexuality. Focus your paper on a broad understanding of sexuality and sex from a biblical worldview perspective. This portion should be no longer than 1 paragraph.
Theology of Sex and Sexuality Scholarly Research: Annotated Outline Assignment
The student will develop an annotated outline for his or her Theology of Sex and Sexuality Scholarly Research Assignment. The outline must include an APA/Turabian style title page, tentative abstract, thesis, heading with main and sub points, relevant citations, and a tentative list of the 10 scholarly references that will be used in the paper.
Theology of Sex and Sexuality Scholarly Research: Final Draft Assignment
The student will develop a Theology of Sex and Sexuality Scholarly Research Assignment. The paper must be 10–12 pages (not including title page, abstract, and references). It must be written in the current APA/Turabian format and in third person. At least 10 scholarly sources in current APA format are required.
Sexual Journey Assignment
The student will write a paper, no longer than 5 pages, outlining his or her personal sexual history from his or her earliest memory to present day. The paper must reference key experiences and situations that shaped who the student is as a sexual person. The student will also connect his or her personal sexual history to the future work as a counselor including potential countertransference issues. This assignment should include an APA/Turabian style cover page and reference page.
Specific Issue Assignment
The student will write a 4 to 5 page paper in current APA/Turabian format covering a specific sexual issue. The paper must detail a pastoral counseling approach to help an individual or couple struggling with the issues. The following sections should appear in the paper: 1) A brief case description of the individual/couple and presenting problem(s). 2) A treatment plan from a pastoral counseling approach. 3) Identify and discuss potential transference/counter transference issues.
