JURI 625 Administrative Law

This course examines the processes that legislative and administrative policy is promulgated and enforced by administrative agencies. Consequently, topics include formal and informal rulemaking, agency delegation, construction of regulations, judicial deference, and agency adjudication and enforcement.

In the 21st century, administrative agencies touch and regulate all aspects of citizens’ lives. The ever-expanding role of government has led to the development of a magnitude of administrative agencies. This course is designed to introduce the student to the foundational principles upon which administrative law has developed, grown, and held the 3 branches of government accountable.

Discussions (4)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each discussion. Each thread must be 300–500 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to at least 2 classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 150–250 words. For each thread, the student must use the textbook and at least 1 scholarly, academic source. Each reply must use at least 1 scholarly, academic source, as well. All sources must be cited using current Bluebook format. Acceptable sources include the course textbook, the Bible, and scholarly articles.

Short Answer Assignments (3)

Each of these assignments will contain 2 short answer essay questions that focus on legal principles. Each short answer must be 250–400 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. No outside sources are required, but the student must cite the course textbook using current Bluebook format.

Quizzes (4)

Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned modules/weeks. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 25 multiple-choice, true/false, matching, or fill-in-the-blank questions, and have a 1-hour time limit.

Comprehensive Final Assignment

The comprehensive final assignment will be completed in 2 sections:

Quiz: Comprehensive Final Assignment: The first section will be open-book/open-notes, contain 25 multiple-choice, true/false, matching, or fill-in-the-blank questions, and have a 1-hour time limit.

Short Answer: Comprehensive Final Assignment: The second section will be open-book/open-notes and contain 2 short answer essay questions. Each short answer must be 250–400 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. No outside sources are required, but the student must cite the course textbook using current Bluebook format. This section will have no time limit.
