HSCI 710 Healthcare Delivery Service

This course is a study of the healthcare delivery systems and their components including programs, providers, policies, and payment systems. Students will examine the healthcare delivery system in terms of cost, quality, and access as they explore various healthcare organizations and the people they serve. The course emphasizes the U.S. healthcare delivery system, while exploring health systems across the globe.

The evaluation should reflect an unbiased perspective that seeks to comprehensively evaluate a problem. The student will select 1 specific problem to address the required content outline. The assignment should include an introductory paragraph, identification of the population affects by the challenge, at least 2 solutions to mitigate the challenge, a biblical response to the problem, and a conclusion. The assignment should be between 3–5 pages (not including the title and reference pages) and must utilize 8–10 peer-reviewed references in addition to scriptural references. The assignment should follow current APA format.

For this assignment, the student will select 1 current policy, either U.S. or from a country of interest. The student will provide a brief policy analysis using the required content outline. The peer-reviewed literature review should reflect an unbiased perspective that addresses political and economic drivers of policy. The assignment should include an introductory paragraph, a discussion of the policy, a discussion of the political and economic driver of the policy, an analysis of the effectiveness of the policy, biblical perspective in response to the problem, and a conclusion. Focusing on diabetes as a chronic condition in the United States, the student will identify a vulnerable population in the United States and fully describe the population in terms of person and geography including social determinants of health. The student should describe the challenges they face in accessing health care, evaluate 2 current solutions and propose 2 potential solutions to this problem. The analysis should include a biblical perspective on health disparities. The assignment should include an introductory paragraph, a full description of the population at risk with a thorough analysis of the social determinants of health, a description of the health care challenges in terms of access, quality, and cost, evaluation of 2 current solutions with explanation of 2 positive and 2 negative effects of the solution, a proposal of 2 evidence-based solutions to mitigate the problem, a biblical perspective of leadership response, and a conclusion. The student will compare the U.S. healthcare system with at least 2 other systems and describe similarities and differences across financing systems, cost, and quality. The assignment should include an introductory paragraph, analysis of the U.S. healthcare system, analysis of 2 separate countries, analysis of the U.S. health system in light of ACA, suggestions for improvement, biblical perspective with scriptural support and application, and a conclusion. Leaders and managers serve an important role in health care and public health organizations. They are in a unique position to apply evidence-based practices and promote organizational success. In this assignment, students will reflect on how leaders can integrate a biblical worldview into their evidenced-based management and leadership even when their vocation is outside of a religious context.  The assignment should be between 2–3 pages (not including the title and reference pages) and must utilize 5–8 peer-reviewed references (as well as Scripture where relevant). The assignment should follow current APA format. 

Essay: HIT and AI Assignment

The student will complete a 3–5-page APA-formatted essay analyzing a health care scenario involving the use of Health Information Technology (HIT) and artificial intelligence (AI) to support chart reviews and identify care gaps. The essay should evaluate the impact of HIT and AI on patient care, providers, and policy, assess pros and cons of AI use, address HIPAA compliance and AI accuracy validation, identify relevant stakeholders, and determine whether the project should be approved. A biblical worldview with supporting Scripture must be included. The paper must use 8–10 peer-reviewed sources published within the last 5 years. In addition, students will create an AI-generated infographic or video summarizing the scenario with verification notes confirming accuracy and include an AI Use Log documenting prompts, outputs, and revisions.
