The course designer will experience variance from a variety of courses needing to be developed and a range of content areas. This course will focus on the theoretical and practical implications for designers who work in a wide range of academic levels and disciplines.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each Discussion. Each thread must be 200 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 100 words. The student will create a presentation (eg. PowerPoint, Google Slides) examining at least three different Learning Management Systems (LMS).  For each LMS, the student will include potential benefits and potential concerns for use with their designed course. (CLO: A, B, C, E)

The candidate will write a 3-5-page paper in current APA format that focuses on the needs of their organization and what instructional solutions can be offered to solve an identified problem. The paper must include at least 4 reference(s) in addition to the course textbooks. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E)

Videos provide on-demand opportunities and are an important aspect in communicating the desire to pursue approval for implementing a new course. The candidate will develop a video that is 3-5 minutes in length. in which the candidate is explaining the need for the proposed course to be designed and implemented. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E)

The candidate will develop a course map that outlines the outlay of the course they are designing for their organization. This map will detail the components needed in the course (e.g. materials necessary for the course, assignments, assessments, instructional materials), as well as planned learning activities and assignments. The assignment may be completed in the form of a spreadsheet or series of tables and charts. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E)

The candidate will construct a 1-2-page plan of what stakeholders will need to consider before the course he/she designed can be implemented. The plan can be submitted as a checklist, outline, or written narrative but must include adequate detail for the stakeholders to be able to launch the course just by reading the plan. (CLO: A, B, C, D, E)

In this 1-2 page paper, the candidate will reflect on their understandings gained from the course, specifically reflecting on the process of the process involved in the creation of the course. (CLO: C, F)
