What Will You Study in Our Online School Administration Certificate?
This program is divided into 3 main parts: core administration and supervision content, gate courses, and field experience. Your core courses will cover a variety of essential topics, including school law, school finance and management, and supervision of instruction. You’ll also explore the process of communication and collaboration between school personnel and the community. Other topics of study include design and improvement of curriculum and instruction, pupil and staff personnel, school organization and management, and student activities.
In addition to honing your educational leadership abilities, you can put your skills to the test by completing 2 full-semester practicum courses and 1 full-semester internship. Within these field experience placements, you’ll gain exposure to 5 different education settings — elementary school, middle school, high school, central offices, and agencies. Your gate courses will help ensure that you are prepared for the culminating internship and stay on track to graduate, so you can fulfill the requirements for pursuing advanced licensure in school administration and supervision.

- A current initial teaching license and the accompanying 2 years of experience with that license is necessary before beginning this program. If the initial teaching license is not from Virginia, a Virginia initial teaching license must be obtained during the program. After completion of the required program coursework (including internship), the passing of licensure tests, and a 3rd year of experience, the graduate of this program would be eligible for adding the VA state licensure endorsement.

Admission Information for Liberty’s Online Graduate Certificate in School Admin. and Supervision
Admission Requirements
- Apply online or over the phone with an admissions counselor by calling (800) 424-9596.
- A non-refundable, non-transferable $50 application fee will be posted on the current application upon enrollment (waived for qualifying service members, veterans, and military spouses – documentation verifying military status is required).
- Send official college transcripts (mailed as sealed, unopened copies or sent via a direct electronic transcript system). A regionally or nationally accredited master’s degree with at least a 3.0 GPA is required for admission in good standing. Applicants who have earned a master’s degree or at least 12 graduate credits from an accredited institution will be assessed on the basis of the master’s-level degree work.
- Students enrolling in this certificate program must hold a current initial teaching license and the accompanying 2 years of experience with that license before beginning this program. If the initial teaching license is not from Virginia, a Virginia initial teaching license must be obtained during the program.
- Applicants whose native language is other than English must submit official scores for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or an approved alternative assessment. For information on alternative assessments or TOEFL waivers, please call Admissions or view the official International Admissions policy.

An acceptable official college transcript is one that has been issued directly from the institution and is in a sealed envelope. If you have one in your possession, it must meet the same requirements. If your previous institution offers electronic official transcript processing, they can send the document directly to luoverify@liberty.edu.
