Our military benefits are available to:
- Active Duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces
- Reserve/National Guard
- Veterans/Retirees
- Spouses of service members and veterans/retirees
- Current Department of Defense employees
Tuition Discounts and Benefits
At Liberty, you’ll find some of the most competitive tuition pricing for students with military affiliation, including:
- For undergraduate programs (certificates, associate degrees, and bachelor’s degrees), the tuition rate is $250 per credit hour, which is the Tuition Assistance cap for Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard.
- For graduate programs (certificates and master’s degrees), the tuition rate is $275 per credit hour.
- Our Doctor of Education and Education Specialist degree programs also qualify for the graduate tuition rate of $275 per credit hour.
- Our divinity program block tuition rate allows you to pay no more than $2,475 per semester in tuition when pursuing a graduate divinity degree. Block rate = 9 to 15 credit hours (Credits taken below 9 and above 15 credit hours are charged at the part-time rate of $275/credit hour.)
- Application fees are waived for service members and veterans.
Doctoral Military Discount
We want to help you find the doctoral degree you want — at a price you’ve earned. As a thank-you for your military service, Liberty University offers eligible current and former service members like you or your spouse multiple pathways to earn a doctoral degree for only $300/credit hour. Here’s how:
- If you’re earning or have earned a master’s degree through Liberty, you automatically qualify for the low price (when you begin within 2 years of your master’s completion)*.
- If you haven’t earned a graduate degree through Liberty, our Executive Certificate program allows you to pay only $300/credit hour for a postgraduate certificate that can stand alone or potentially count as the first 21 hours of a related doctoral degree. Then pay just $300/credit hour for your doctorate. Request information to learn more!
*While this discount is not currently available for DoD employees, we do offer a range of other benefits and opportunities.
Tuition Assistance, Veterans Benefits, and GI Bill®
As part of Liberty University’s commitment to providing excellent service to military students, we have a team of professionals in our Office of Military Affairs available to assist you with your Tuition Assistance, GI Bill, and other military funding. Liberty is also a proud Yellow Ribbon participant.
Transfer and Military Credit
You’ve already shown that you can rise to any challenge and meet it with determination and grit, so we’ll work with you to see how your current knowledge or military training can count toward your degree completion. At Liberty, you can transfer in up to 75% of a bachelor’s degree and up to 50% of master’s and doctoral degrees.
Did You Know?
Parents who attend Liberty University Online may be eligible to receive a 10% tuition discount for their child to enroll with Liberty University Online Academy.*
*Discount only applicable to tuition for non-dual enrollment courses with Liberty University Online Academy (LUOA). Students must be new to LUOA and enrolled in full-time courses to be eligible. At least one parent must have completed a course with Liberty University Online (LUO) within the last 24 months to be eligible. This LUO Parent Discount is not stackable with other discounts. Contact LUOA for further details and to see if your family is eligible.
First Responder Benefits
Liberty Is Proud to Offer Police, EMS, and Other First Responders a Generous Tuition Discount for Most Programs
We want to make earning a college education as affordable as possible by offering generous discounts to first responders. The Towns/Kopis First Responder Tuition Discount was created to offer a discounted tuition rate for police, firefighters, EMS, and others who work as first responders. As our way of saying ‘Thank You,’ we proudly provide:
- A 25% tuition discount
- Free evaluation of training and life experience for college credit
- Personalized service throughout your college experience from a team of knowledgeable Academic Advisors
- Potential stacking with other tuition benefits like the Corporate Advantage Program or Military Benefits
Who Qualifies for the First Responder Discount?*
Liberty University defines First Responders as students currently (or within the last five years) employed, volunteering full time, or retired from the areas of law enforcement, emergency services, Civil Air Patrol (CAP) senior members, fire safety and rescue work, and TSA.
*This discount only applies to students enrolled in online associate, bachelor’s, graduate, and doctoral degree programs. Students receiving the $300/credit hour doctoral military rate are not eligible for the First Responder Discount.
Combined Discount
Are you a First Responder with Military experience?
Many veterans who are no longer serving in the military are often employed as emergency response personnel in their civilian careers. Unlike most other scholarships or discounts, veterans can stack our Military Tuition discount with the First Responder discount, as long as all qualifications are met.
Students who qualify for both discounts can take advantage of the rates below for some of our popular programs:

Military Child Discount
We recognize the sacrifice military members and their families make. As a thank-you, starting Spring 2023, we now offer a 15% discount off our regular full-or part-time tuition rates for new online students, regardless of age, whose parent(s) served honorably in the military.* Please contact us at (800) 424-9595 for more information.
