Course Description

This is a survey course that introduces key ideas which will help anyone interested in aviation succeed. Class time is spent introducing topics like aviation rules of thumb, character development, learning theory, and aviation technical knowledge areas, and applying these topics to various aviation career fields.

Video Discussion: Student Introductions

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will submit a 2-minute-minimum video presentation introducing themselves to their fellow classmates. Specific elements described in the assignment are to be included. This will be a graded assignment and the student must reply to at least two other classmate introductions as well. The replies must be 150 words minimum per reply.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide the required work in the prompt for each discussion. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each thread must be at least 400 words. Each reply must be at least 250 words.

Each thread must utilize at least 3 in-text citations from a scholarly source and at least 1 biblical application with scripture reference as support. Each reply must utilize at least 2 in-text citations and at least 1 biblical application with scripture reference as support. The reference section of both the thread and the two replies must have at least 2 scholarly references and 1 biblical reference. 

Eras in Aviation Paper Assignment

This assignment has three primary goals. First, for each student to better develop their APA writing skills and explore the available resources provided by LU (JFL, LUO Writing Center, etc.) for writing and research. Second, for the student to immerse themselves in a specific aspect of aviation history. Third, this and the subsequent Era in Aviation Paper: Update Assignment will form the basis for the student’s Eras in Aviation Presentation Assignment in which the student will present their research via a narrated PowerPoint presentation. This paper will be 1.5 to 2 pages in length, not including the Title Page and Reference Page, and require at least one (1) reference.

Eras in Aviation Paper: Update Assignment

Each student will update and add to the previously submitted Era in Aviation Paper Assignment. The student is expected to incorporate feedback and comments provided on the original Era in Aviation Paper Assignment. Additionally, the student is expected to include one more (additional) section AND at least one additional reference related to the subject or topic of the original paper. This paper will be 2.5 to 3 pages in length (not including the Title Page and Reference Page), and require at least two (2) references.

Networking E-mail Assignment

In this assignment, each student will craft a professional-style email introducing themselves to an individual in the aviation industry.

Business Card Assignment

In this assignment, each student will design / develop a professional-style, aviation-related business card.

Eras in Aviation Presentation Assignment

The student will complete this assignment in a visual presentation format. The visual presentation must include a 4- to 6-minute minimum recorded presentation. The student must be creative with their presentation. It is recommended that the student use Kaltura to create the presentation. Please click on the link in the Eras in Aviation Presentation Resources section to explore how to use Kaltura. If the student is not comfortable with Kaltura, the student must use a technology medium that allows the presentation to include the student’s face and audio.

Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned Modules: Weeks. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 10 multiple-choice and true/false questions, and have a 30-minute time limit.

Quiz: Mid-term: Safety Program Awareness and Risk Management

This quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned Module: Week. This quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 20 multiple-choice questions, and will have a 1-hour time limit.

Quiz: Clifton Strengths Online Assessment

This quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned Module: Week. This quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 1 file-upload question, and will have a 30-minute time limit.

Quiz: Final: Aviation Foundations Capstone and Review

This quiz will cover the Learn material for all assigned Modules: Weeks. This quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 20 multiple-choice and true/false questions, and have a 2-hour time limit.
