Course Description

This course will introduce the student to Adobe InDesign. Specific skills taught include creating, editing, and publishing a created document to various media formats.

Rationale

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to Adobe InDesign, an industry standard digital page layout program. Students will learn how to create, edit, and publish created documents to various media formats. These learning objectives fit within all disciplines of study at the university to add to the digital and technological skillsets of the students.

Discussions (5)

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to write a thread in response to the provided prompt. Each thread must be at least 250 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. For Discussion 3, the student will create the biography portion of the Final Project. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be at least 125 words.

InDesign Assignments (7)

The student will complete projects based on the required presentations and/or textbook readings. The student will be required to recreate assignments taught in a presentation or create an assignment/project based on textbook instructions. 

Final Project Assignments (2)

The student will create a 2-page InDesign flyer about him/herself using photos and text that will demonstrate his/her ability to create a project from scratch, incorporate concepts covered in the course, and utilize the principles of design. The Final Project will begin in Module 6: Week 6 with the Discussion. In Module 7: Week 7, the student will turn in the first page of the Final Project. In Module 8: Week 8, the student will turn in both pages of the Final Project.

The student will complete a short 10-question quiz covering the assigned reading in the Module: Week.
