Fresh off a sixth-place showing at the NASCAR Cup Series season finale at Phoenix Raceway on Nov. 6, Liberty University online student William Byron — driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 — finished the year with a Cup Series career-best sixth-place finish in the driver point standings.

Byron celebrated victories at two tracks this season — Atlanta Motor Speedway and Martinsville Speedway. He had five top-five finishes and 11 top-10s to secure his fourth consecutive Cup Series playoff berth, narrowly missing the championship round after reaching the Round of 8 for the first time in his Cup career this year. In fact, he secured six of his top-10 performances in the final 10 playoff races.

Liberty University has been a primary sponsor of Byron and his Hendrick Motorsports’ No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro ZLI since 2018, when Byron debuted as the Rookie of the Year. Liberty is entering the second year of a five-year extended agreement as a primary sponsor for 12 races each season. Byron will sport LU’s signature red, white, and blue paint scheme on some of the most prominent race tracks in America in 2023, as the schedule was announced this week.

The 24-year-old from Charlotte, N.C., is pursuing his B.S. in Strategic Communication through Liberty University Online Programs.
