Graduates from Liberty University School of Law earned the highest passage rate on the July 2024 Virginia Bar Exam out of all law schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia, for both first-time Virginia takers and in overall pass rate.
According to the Virginia Board of Bar Examiners, 90.63 percent of Liberty Law first-time Virginia test takers passed the exam, over 15 percentage points higher than the overall average pass rate in Virginia (73.90 percent) and over 10 percentage points higher than the first-time Virginia pass rate (77.33 percent). For first-time Virginia takers, Liberty Law had a higher pass rate than law schools including University of Virginia (88.89 percent), Regent University (87.50 percent), and George Mason University (81.97 percent). Results were announced this month and published on the Virginia Board of Bar Examiners’ website.
“We are so proud of the Liberty Law Class of 2024 and their hard work,” said School of Law Interim Dean Timothy Todd. “To God be the glory for His faithfulness and blessing with these results. At Liberty Law, we are focused on two goals: to grow each student’s relationship with God and to train excellent lawyers. Earning the highest bar passage rate for the July 2024 Virginia bar exam among Virginia law schools — and accomplishing that while maintaining our core commitment to our Christian mission — demonstrates that we are advancing the university’s mission of Training Champions for Christ.”
Todd credits Liberty Law’s rigorous courses and academic support services, which are specially designed to help students prepare for the bar. He also credits the Liberty Law faculty who are dedicated to exam preparation.
“We’re so thankful for the hard work of our faculty and staff teams who pour into the Liberty Law community,” he said, including Professor Rena Lindevaldsen and Director of Academic Support Laura Moody, who spearhead the bar exam and academic success initiatives, and Vice Dean Rodney Chrisman, all of whom are committed to the success of our students and alumni. He also recognized former Dean Morse Tan, former Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Joseph Martins, and the Liberty University leadership team for their support of Liberty Law and its mission.
This accomplishment comes as Liberty Law celebrates 20 years of providing Christian legal education.
