Flames Nation primed for season opener against Campbell on Saturday

On the heels of its most successful season, Flames Football prepares to give the home crowd a glimpse into another winning season at Saturday’s season opener against FCS opponent Campbell.

In his second year at the helm, Head Coach Jamey Chadwell said he is looking forward to some great gridiron competition and being with Flames Nation once again.

“Even for coaches, the experience that we get when you get out there with the band playing, the cheerleaders, the countdown, all of the students in red, with a place that is packed out and loud. It’s a special moment that I know I’m looking forward to,” he said during a press conference on Tuesday. “I had no idea how great it was when I got here. It’s unbelievable and I encourage everybody to come out. It’s a special place playing in Williams Stadium. And I know our players are looking forward to it. When we go to other places, they realize how special our fans and stadium are.”

The Flames enter their second season in Conference USA as defending champions with a chance to earn their way into the newly expanded 12-team College Football Playoff. This year’s squad is heavily composed of new faces, with many transfer student-athletes sporting the red, white, and blue. Starting junior quarterback Kaidon Salter will look to guide the Flames to another successful campaign, after Liberty’s offense led the nation in rushing with 293.3 yards per game last season. The 2023 HERO Sports Group of Five National Player of the Year recorded a combined 44 touchdowns and 3,965 total yards.

The North Campus Garage will be open for game-day parking.

The 2024 season includes several new game day experiences at Williams Stadium. Perhaps the largest is the addition of the North Campus Garage, located near the stadium, which can accommodate an additional 1,500 vehicles. Paid and ADA parking have also been consolidated to this garage to make game day more convenient for guests, with shuttles providing direct routes to and from the stadium.

The popular pregame event, Flames Fan Fest presented by Autova, in the Liberty Football Indoor Practice Facility is now open to all of fans and no longer requires a game day ticket for entry. Everyone can enjoy the Liberty Football team walk, lawn games, inflatables, balloon animals and visits from Sparky and the Liberty Cheerleaders. Flames Fan Fest begins two and a half hours before kickoff and ends 30 minutes before game time. A new exit from the event to Williams Stadium will open in the Southeast corner of the outdoor practice field, allowing easier access to Gate 4 and easier exiting to Gates 5 and 6 on the east side of the stadium.

With the warm temperatures expected for Saturday’s game, Liberty will offer cooling stations with fans and cooling mist at various locations around Williams Stadium, with help from students at the Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine (LUCOM) and School of Nursing (LUSON).

Season tickets for the 2024 Liberty Football season are on sale now. Starting at just $120, members of Flames Nation can secure their spot at Williams Stadium this fall.

Liberty’s exciting 2024 slate includes home games against AAC foe East Carolina (Sept. 21) and CUSA home games against UTEP (Sept. 14), FIU (Oct. 8), Jax State (Oct. 30) and WKU (Nov. 23).
