With an expected turnout of more than 800, Liberty University’s Standing for Freedom Center is gearing up for its Student Leadership Summit, “Standing for Freedom: Biblical Principles in a Woke World,” this Friday and Saturday at Thomas Road Baptist Church.
Guests will hear from a wide array of speakers who champion biblical values in today’s secular culture. Many speakers are notable experts currently fighting legal battles in support of our religious liberty and individual freedoms. (View the full slate of speakers.)
Friday’s session begins at 5:30 p.m. and will open and close in worship led by the Sean Feucht Praise Band. Other notable guests for the first day include Liberty Campus Pastor Jonathan Falwell, author Eric Metaxas, political commentators Liz Wheeler and Allie Beth Stuckey, and Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina Mark Robinson.
In addition, Friday will include a panel discussion on the issue of male athletes competing in female sports.
Saturday’s events will likewise open with worship and feature a large number of speakers throughout the full-day affair.
Mat Staver, former dean at Liberty University School of Law, is set to take the stage in the late morning. Staver currently serves as the senior pastor, founder, and chairman of Liberty Counsel. Several other speakers will make appearances prior to a brief intermission for lunch.
The summit will resume in the afternoon with a panel discussion on abortion in light of the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
The afternoon will include appearances by Dr. Carol Swain, Leo Terrell, and Virgil Walker, among others. Walker is the executive director of operations for G3 Ministries.
Attendees will also hear from Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon and Joseph Kennedy, a high school football coach from Washington state who made national headlines after he was fired for kneeling on the football field after games and his case was heard by the Supreme Court.
The event will close with a panel discussion on freedom of speech followed by a message from political commentator Michael Knowles.
