During Freshman and New Student Convocation held in the Liberty Arena on Friday morning, Liberty University’s Office of Spiritual Development released the Fall Convocation schedule that will begin with a 50th Anniversary Kickoff Celebration featuring Liberty President Jerry Prevo and Liberty’s co-founder, Dr. Elmer Towns, on Sept. 1 in the Vines Center.
“We’re excited to release our Convo schedule, our speaker schedule for the Fall (semester),” new Campus Pastor Jonathan Falwell said. “We’ve got an incredible lineup and our team has worked really hard this summer to ensure that every single speaker is going to come and they are going to open and unpack the Word of God.”
Some of this semester’s featured guests include Liberty alumna and Fox News anchor Shannon Bream (’93), who will headline Homecoming Weekend on Oct. 8; pastors Tony Evans (Sept. 3), David Jeremiah (Sept. 17), Levi Lusko (Oct. 27), and Jim Cymbala (Nov. 5); Christian radio show host and personal finance personality Dave Ramsey (Sept. 29); Liberty alumna and Concerned Women for America President Penny Young Nance (Oct. 22); and former Secretary of State and CIA Director Mike Pompeo for a Veteran’s Day Convocation on Nov. 12. (See the full schedule below.)
Bream and Lusko expressed their enthusiasm over their opportunities to pour into Liberty’s student body this semester.
“I am beyond psyched to be on campus to worship together in Convo during Homecoming,” Bream said. “I find it incredibly inspiring to spend time with the next generation of Champions (for Christ).”
“God is doing something so special as He raises up a generation of hungry, driven, and passionate Jesus followers at Liberty University and I can’t wait to be back this fall for Convo,” Lusko added.
As Liberty celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year, Falwell and Liberty President Jerry Prevo look forward to how the Lord will work in the hearts of His people.
“We are so excited about this brand new year at Liberty, and we are excited for what God is going to do on this campus as 15,000 students descend on this place to learn, to grow, and to hear the Word of God,” Falwell said.
“I knew our founder, Dr. Jerry Falwell Sr., and I want you to know that he saw you way back there in 1971,” Prevo added. “He saw that you needed a university where you could come and grow in the Lord and get a first-quality education and go out and be Champions for Christ.”
