Third-seeded Liberty University fended off charges from second-seeded Campbell and top-seeded Charleston Southern on Tuesday to clinch its fourth Big South Conference (BCS) Men’s Golf Championship title in six seasons at the par 72, 7,120-yard Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six, S.C.
The Flames earned the Big South’s automatic bid to the May 16-18 NCAA Regionals by posting a winning score of 11-under par 853 (286-281-286). Liberty won by 12 strokes over Campbell (1-over 865), the event’s runner-up for the second year in a row, and defending champion Charleston-Southern (4-over 868). It was Liberty’s second-lowest total at a BSC Championship event after shooting a 20-under par 844 in 2012.
