Liberty announced as 2016 Lynchburg Regional Airshow title sponsor

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels performed at Lynchburg Regional Airport in the 2011 Lynchburg Regional Airshow. They will return for the 2016 airshow in May.

Liberty University has been announced as the title sponsor for the 2016 Lynchburg Regional Airshow, coming to Lynchburg Regional Airport May 21-22. The show features an all-star performer lineup including the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and over eight other exciting acts, as well as interactive ground displays and kids activities.

Students and staff from the Liberty University School of Aeronautics and Freedom Aviation, the university’s fixed-base operator, will be heavily involved in the event as part of a team of 700 volunteers.

This year’s theme, “A Salute to Service,” was selected to honor the men and women who serve and protect our country and our communities, specifically military and first responders. A portion of ticket sales will be donated to support these heroic individuals.

“The Airshow would not be possible without the many organizations and individuals that have signed on to sponsor this exciting event,” said Dave Young, U.S. Air Force Veteran and president of the airshow organization. “This year, we are proud to announce Liberty University as the Title Sponsor of the 2016 Airshow. Liberty is a staunch supporter of our military and service men and women.”

Liberty University President Jerry Falwell said it is a privilege for the university to be the title sponsor for the 2016 Lynchburg Regional Air Show, one of the largest events in Central Virginia.

“We are always excited when we can help bring these family events to our community,” he said. “As a strong supporter of our nation’s military, Liberty is especially honored to participate in an event dedicated to our service members, veterans, and their families.”
