The Liberty University cheerleading squad competed in the 2016 UCA College National Championship at the ESPN Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. The competition was featured on ESPN3.
Liberty sent two partner stunt groups to the competition in the squad’s second year qualifying for the competition. Liberty’s partner stunt group of Colby Hall, Kyle Minder, Cassidy Hall, and Laken Hendron placed second at the competition, only trailing North Carolina State’s cheerleading team. The other partner stunt group from Liberty finished sixth in the competition and featured Dani Blasini, Lizzie Edmondson, Chelsey O’Connell, and Matty Hogan.
The competition was based off an entry video qualification. Once the squad was entered in the competition, the teams performed a one-minute partner stunt routine and were judged on difficulty, execution, transitions, and showmanship.
